16:53 hrs SALOMON RUSSIA has arrived to PC7 Silva Palma, just sa few minutes before LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE which arrived at 17:12 hrs, both of them watched by the organization on WhalesSound's ships . Now they must face about 111 km of trekking from the PC8 Brunswick to PC9 Froward where they will be the first on looking at Cruz de los Mares, the southern extreme of the American continent.

At 22:40 hrs the last team in race arrived at the PC6 Otway, MENETUE - OPTIMUM NUTRITION, in this place are awaiting fotr the new kayak course all the rest of the teams GLOBALSTAR CHILE, FUKAWI, THE KING'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT and LE GROUP IBEROAMERICA, they will try to cross Seno Otway tomorrow at first hour in the morning if the weather allows it.

February 17
The five team who where waiting at PC6 Otway to face one more course by kayak are now being transported on organization's ships to the PC7 Silva Palma due to the bad climatic conditions reaching 30 knots (55km/h). They left PC6 at 08:30 this morning, and when arriving PC7, will start the last and harder trekking course, where there is another rope technical test, tiroline and rappel.



Prom. PC7 Silva Palma to PC8 Brunswick and finally to PC9 Froward, mean 111 km of the hardest trekking with a rappel in Prom. PC7 Silva Palma to PC8 Brunswick and finally to PC9 Frowar, mean 111 km of the hardest trekking with a rappel in PC8.

The racers start the trekking along the river's basin towards southeast from the PC7, 11 km of peat bog, interrupted later for deep narrow bench of 100mts. At this zone the racers must walk down to the river Raúl, passing extensive forested places that sometimes is transformed in a maze of fallen trunks. Perseverance and patience is the key at this stage.

Teams retake the peat, always interrupted with small bankrupts, getting to the km 24 of the trekking. The following 16 km travels through a mountain cord, where the experience and knowledge on navigation will be particulary needed. The cord consists on rock edges, parallel narrow passes and another perpendiculars to navigation's principal edge, some depth are 400 mt. Long, altitudes of 700 m to 900 m at hills and peaks of over a thousand meters. At this stretch it is possible to see animals like the Chilean Huemul (deer), foxes, condors and pumas.

Once the sector of mountain was finished the racers fowards the basin of the river of Gold steel long peat bogs along narrow passes are in the way.

When they approuch km 14 getting to the Strait Of Magellan, at PC8 Brunswick, comes a sector of ropes where a rapel of 100 mts is installed to raffle the narrowing river Nodales. Next continue for mobs and a certain amount of forest to the sea.

The track keep´s 8 km South alongshore, ascending continuosly up to 400 mt to achieved the goal arriving to the furthest point of the continental platform, the Cross of Seas (Froward's Cross and PC9), Welcome to the end of the world.


Thanks to transportations Vía Terra that has moved all journalists to the city. Tomorrow continue`s journey to the final zone of the PATAGONIA EXPEDITION RACE 2005. They will take the journalist to PC8 Brunswick point, to report the racer`s arrival.


February 18
14:50 hrs the team SOLOMON RUSSIA passes the PC8 Brunswick and the ropes section. Theres no doubt that this team is the fastest, but Let us remind you that they where disqualified due to the fault at the kayak course from PC2 to PC3.

21:50 hrs LA CLUSAZ RAID AVENTURE has gotten to the PC8 Brunswick exhaustedly, they have said that they should rest at the PC till next morning. This team leads the race and if nothing happens to them , they are expected to be the second edisión's of the PATAGONIA EXPEDITION RACE winners.
