All the teams departed by bus from the city of Punta Arenas to the start of the race at 22 hrs, 661.8 km. of adventure are waiting for them.
Today at 4:30 hrs the director Stjepan Pavicic initiated tha race of the 2nd edition of the PATAGONIA EXPEDITION RACE from Cerro Guido's locality.
Forty four participants began the race running 400m to his bikes with the fist lights of the day. Has begun the more savage expedition of the planet, welcome!
They will advance 40.7 km. on his mountainbikes, over a land mainly flat, but with a spectacular view to the fascinating National Park Torres del Paine, declared Biosphere reserve by the UNESCO in 1978, that is why in this section the race is neutralized. This is from PC1 Laguna Amarga to PC2 Lago Grey, 54 km of gravel road on their mountain bikes.

Team DAP ANTÁRTICA sufered 6 jabs during this first section, what delayed them. The teams FUKAWI, THE KING'S OWN CALGARY REGIMENT and JEAN MERMOZ ARGENTINA lost the right path what ment one more hour on theirs bikes, but they got the PC1 on time.
14:30 hrs. The JEAN MERMOZ ARGENTINA team is disqualified of the race before getting the PC2 Lago Grey. The strong wind made them advance very slowly and they didn’t reach the point on time. The team will continue running from PC3 Perales, but out of ranking.
The runners show the with a wonderful weather what allows them to admire the great Cuernos del Paine, one of the principal attraction in the world for the nature lovers.
The next section of the race, from PC2 Lago Grey to PC3 Perales, consists in 90 km of kayaking first along the Grey River and after along the Serrano River till its mouth open to the sea at Ultima Esperaza bay.
PC2 is installed at . It has a spectacular view to the Grey glacier, lake and river Grey and to the majestic Cerro Paine Grande, highest altitude at the . That is why it was chosen like the transitional point from mountainbike to kayak.

When descending by kayak, the Spanish team GLOBALSTAR CHILE, third in the ranking at PC2, suffered an accident, without damage for the runners. The kayak crushed against one pillar of the gate in a incline position because of the very strong wind, what left the kayak too deteriorated to keep on sailing. So, they where rescued from the water and disqualified. The team will continue the race, but out of ranking.
At 18:00 the first teams got the Ultima Esperanza Bay, leading the race one of the French teams: LA CLUSAZ RAID ADVENTURE, but followed very close by the Russian team SALOMON RUSIA.
It is 20:00 hour. And the weather condition are getting worst, so the organization is going to get all the kayaks out of the water, due to safety instructions. The race is temporarily neutralized. The wind speed is about 70 km/h.
Last minute information!! One of the kayak of the SALOMON RUSIA team is lost, with the two members of the team Mikhail Pershin and Alexandra Kontorina, the captain doesn’t know what happened with them, difficult moments for all of us.
The rescue facilities started the search, but in the night it is going to be more complicated. The kayak lost has the emergency kit, with a GPS and a Satellite phone, the organization is waiting impatiently the call form the runners.
