15:20 hrs. almost 25 hours after the first team arrived at PC4, team14 RAID 74 ORG – SKY AIRLINE (France), 3 hours later team 12 PUNTA ARENAS (Chile), and 2 hours later team 6, QUASAR LONTRA MASTER (Brazil). By now, they are all out of the competition.
Using satellite phones courtesy of , teams 4 UNTAMED ADVENTURE (USA), and 9 CLUB PATAGONIA.COM (Argentina) contact the organization to inform that they are unable to continue on race and that they are in the area of Lago Blanco. Both teams are runing out of food and one of the members of the USA team has serious wounds and blister caused by the long trek. They send a distress call.
But there is still one team missing, they are 11 MONTAGNE TEAM (Argentina). The organization keeps some staff on CP4 waiting for this party to arrive.
From Collado Genkowski, PC 5, the teams begin the third trekking, which includes 17 kms over the forest line in the mountains. This area is within the limits of and it is the northern section of Darwin Range. It is made of beautiful peaks, which in some cases have small glaciers.
The trek begins ascending towards the first mountain pass. Then a slight change of direction to WNW in order to enter a valley until finding a lake. From here the route book indicates W looking for the third pass. Once there, the route will take the teams down and through a forest WSW until Lajas Pass. Here it is possible to have a panoramic view of some of the highest mountains in .
After this look out point, the teams have to head north towards Rio Sanchez Valley. However, the way there is nothing but difficult, for the teams must carefully search for a safe passage down hill. On top of this, the landscape changes from mountanious to the dreadful wetlands.
Once in the valley, the racers will come across a path which is still under construction for future visitors. This path leads La Paciencia, on the north side of Almirantazgo Sound.
