A police helicopter ( carries out two rescue operations. First, evacuating a journalist in the mountain area, and also members of the two remaining teams in Lago Blanco. They are taken to Punta Arenas for medical assistance.
11:15 hrs. The first team arrives to PC6, La Paciencia, it is Nº1, www.autentic-nutrition.com (France-USA) which is still leading the race and completed this trek in 31 hours. 3 hours later arrives CANARIAS – ANDALUCIA SPIUK TENERIFE (Spain).
17:30 hrs. team Nº11, MONTAGNE TEAM (Argentina), managed to get to PC 4 Chorrillo Los Perros with a total of 100 hours to complete this trek. All 4 members are happy to have finally found the CP. They are all in good health and in one piece.
18:25 hrs. Some 7 hours after the first team, TEAM LITTLETON BIKE AND FITNESS (USA – Canadá) arrives to PC6, La Paciencia, Two hours later TEAM TUAREG TURK (Turkey) checks in.
Meanwhile, team Nº2, MEDILAST SPORT LLEIDA – SKY (Spain – Chile), by means of satellite phone courtesy of , informs that they will be forced to abandon the race owing to an injure on one of its members. Nevertheless, they will slowly continue until La Paciencia. In the end, they complete this section in 54 hours. They are out of race and therefore unable go on and try Darwin Range pass.
Due to weather conditions, all four teams that are still in competition have been neutralised at La Paciencia. Today, Monday, it is rainig and on top of that there is a strong wind of 30 knots which has forced us to seek shelter and wait. Unfortunately, the weather forecast for the up coming days shows no improvement at all. In addition, there are only a few more days ahead in order to finish the route, therefore the organization has no other choice but to call this kayak section off at Almirantazgo Sound.
With the help of and all the enegy is used in order to close PC6 and move the racers and press to PC7 Parry, Parry at the west end of Parry fjord which is the starting point to Darwin Range.
16:00 hrs. All four remaining teams set off. They are: 1, www.autentic-nutrition.com, 2-Canarias - Andalucia Spiuk Tenerife, 8-Team Littleton Bike and Fitness and 5-Team Touareg Turk.
The way to PC8 Yendegaiais through the mythical Death pass, which is a long valley intercepted by imposing glaciers from Darwin Range. The valley rises as it moves SE and turns into terraces. This is a unique landscape with glaciers, cliffs, water falls, wetlands, thick ñirre, lengua and Winter’s Bark forests. Here is also possible to observe the destructive presence of the beavers.
It only takes a few kms to observe a clear difference between those who want to be in first place and those who are worn out and are still learning to interprete Patagonia’s signs. Therefore the new positions are 1- www.authentic-nutrition.com (France – USA) followed by 5-Team Touareg Turk (Turkey). They are setting the pace and head towards Death pass.
