Patagonia the native tribes history geography wheather & climate flora & fauna economy

Four main groups of Indians inhabited the extreme southern part of America: Aonikenk, Kawéskar, Selk´nam and Yagan. In order to survive in the harsh conditions of this area, these ancestral inhabitants organized themselves in small nomadic groups, land hunters and maritime “canoers” that roamed in search of food through the pampas, mountains, coasts and channels.

Aonikenk
Kawésqar
Selk´nam (Onas)
Yaganes

These Indian tribes which inhabited Southern Patagonia for thousands of years, co-existed with the mythical Milodon and survived very adverse climatic conditions when the great glaciers that covered the area started to recede. However, when “civilized man” appeared, its population was reduced drastically until it finally disappeared.
